This refresher course meets the required hours to recertify your EMT license through the State of California. The course is designed to provide THREE 8 HOUR DAYS, 24 hours of continuing education units and skills testing. In order to receive your course completion certificate, you must attend all hours posted. You must also successfully pass the final exam, and all skills tested.

After successful completion, you will be awarded a Certificate of Completion for the course, as well as a completed California EMT Skills Competency Verification Form and the appropriate skills verification for the NREMT.

This course also meets the NREMT’s 24hr requirement, offering CEs in the following topics/hours:

Mandatory Core Content – 24 hours total

Roles and Responsibilities Well-being of the Emergency Medical Technician Quality Improvement Personal Protection Lifting and Moving
Airway	2 hours
Basic Airway Management Oxygen Delivery Systems and Techniques Oxygen Therapy Adjuncts
OB, Infants & Children	2 hours
Obstetrical Emergencies, Gynecological Emergencies, Childbirth and Complications, Care of the Newborn, Assessing the Pediatric Patient, Airway Management in Pediatric Patients, Trauma Emergencies and Care in Pediatric Patients
Patient Assessment	3 hours
Scene Size-up, Primary Survey, Vital Signs and History Taking, Assessment of Trauma Patients, Assessment of Medical Patients, Secondary Assessment, Communications, Documentation
Medical / Behavorial	4 hours
General Pharmacology, Respiratory Emergencies, Environmental Emergencies, Acute Abdominal Emergencies, Diabetic Emergencies, Allergic Reactions, Poisoning and Overdose, Behavioral Emergencies
Trauma	4 hours
Management of Shock, Bleeding/Wounds, Soft Tissue Injuries, Musculoskeletal Injuries, Chest Trauma, Injuries to Head and Spine, Burns
Electives	8 hours
Additional hours on any of the above-mentioned required topics will be covered based on student performance. Optional topics such as: Emergency Driving, HAZMAT, Ambulance Operations, Incident Command System may be included depending on the needs of the class.
